Make a pompom with cardboard circles11/11/2023 ![]() Very carefully, slip the scissors between the two pieces of cardboard and start cutting the yarn we wrapped in the previous step.Ĭut all the way around both pieces of cardboard until you’ve cut all of the wool.įinally, cut a strand of yarn and put it through the center of the pom pom. Keep wrapping until the pom pom maker is full, as in the image above. Put the two rings together, and using wool or petite wool, wrap a strand around the cardboard.Īlternate yarn colors and weights to make multicolored pom poms with different effects, you can even make a design depending upon how you wrap the yarn □ Once you’ve done that, using the scissors again, cut out the smaller circles from inside the bigger ones.Ĭut through the ring all the way to the center, don’t worry, later we will use this slit to tie our wool to our cardboard pom pom maker. With the scissors, cut out both of the bigger circles. Now trace two smaller circles inside of the bigger ones, try to make them concentric, meaning that they are in the center of the circle (they don’t have to be perfect). The size of these circles will determine the size of your pom poms, so keep that in mind when you’re drawing them. The first thing we’ll do is trace two circles on the cardboard. ![]() Grab your scissors, a piece of cardboard (you can be creative here and recycle an old cereal box or delivery box) and some round objects that you can use to trace a circle onto the cardboard (small plates or dishes, rolls of tape, round jars or tea candles) and of course, don’t forget your WAK wool! To make wool pom poms we only need a few items that you probably already have at home, so we don’t have to spend a dime! Pom poms are a great craft to make with kids, and they can be used in a huge variety of DIY projects.įor example, you could use them to make a pom pom wreath, decorative garland… We love wool pom poms! If we don’t put them on top of our wool hats we feel like they’re just not quite finished.
